Why John Cena’s WWE Retirement Is Good News

John Cena WWE World Titles

One top WWE star has described John Cena’s retirement as “good news” as they’re glad to see the back of the legend.

John Cena had the final match of his illustrious career at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13th. Cena took on Gunther in his final bout with The Ring General winning a 16-man Last Time Is Now tournament to earn the chance to be Cena’s last opponent.

A raucous crowd in Washington, D.C. were determined to give Cena the send-off he deserved, but despite their best efforts, they were stunned into silence when John Cena meekly tapped out while locked in Gunther’s sleeper hold.

The fans let Triple H know exactly what they thought of the finish when they showered him with “You f*cked up” chants when he led the locker room to ringside to pay their own tribute to Cena.

One WWE star, however, thinks Cena’s retirement is only a good thing.

Logan Paul Speaks On John Cena’s Retirement

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Logan Paul explained why he thinks John Cena’s retirement really opens the door for a new generation of WWE stars – including himself – to shine:

I watched John Cena’s last match last night. He was wrestling Gunther, and he tapped out with a sleeper hold. John Cena’s whole thing is never give up, and he gave up.

The good news is, with a guy like John gone, this company can really thrive with me in charge and the Vision leading the way. All of yesterday’s match was a microcosm of what the future of WWE could look like. The talent from NXT, the Oba Femis, the Sol Rucas, Je’von Evans, me, now it’s gonna get exciting.

Some people might find Paul’s comments utterly bizarre, given that John Cena stopped being a full-time WWE star in 2018. A whole generation of stars has come and gone between Cena slowing down his career and finally putting an exclamation point on it seven years later.
