Why Jey Uso Dropped World Heavyweight Championship To Gunther

Jey Uso

Gunther ending Jey Uso’s World Heavyweight Championship reign allegedly had one significant reason.

Main Event Jey Uso had a 51-day World Heavyweight Title run after capturing the championship at WrestleMania by beating The Ring General.

Although he successfully defended the championship against Logan Paul at Saturday Night’s Main Event, he failed to retain the title in a WrestleMania rematch against Gunther last night on RAW.

On the latest episode of The Last Word, former WWE Senior Director of International Television Tommy Carlucci discussed the shocking title change.

Carlucci claimed the company booked Uso to drop the title to Gunther because the latter carries it well. Meanwhile, he expressed his desire to see the former Bloodline member chase The Ring General again.

You know what? I think I’d like to see Jey chase him now again. I mean, it’s another storyline that they rehashed over and over. But I think Gunther really carries the belt really well and I think that’s why they made that change. [2:12 onwards]
