Why AEW Might Actually Want Saudi Arabia To Buy WWE

Triple H WWE WrestleMania 43 Saudi Arabia Turki

WWE has a close working relationship with the Saudi Arabian government.

Over the past several years, Saudi Arabia has hosted several WWE shows. The Stamford-based company is also set to hold next year’s Royal Rumble and WrestleMania 43 in the Arab country.

The growing partnership between WWE and the Saudi government has led many to question whether Turki Alalshikh, Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority, would eventually buy the global juggernaut.

On a recent episode of his Story Time with Dutch Mantell podcast, the wrestling veteran predicted that WWE would go out of business if the Saudis purchased it.

Dutch Mantell Thinks AEW Would Benefit From WWE’s Potential Sale To Saudi Arabia

While WWE continues to expand its partnerships, AEW has also been trying to compete with the global juggernaut. On the same episode of his Story Time with Dutch Mantell, the 75-year-old claimed Tony Khan’s promotion would be the biggest winner if Saudi Arabia buys the Stamford-based company.

The wrestling veteran pointed out that many American fans would quit watching WWE, which would help grow AEW.

Well, I think is I’m gonna forecast this. If it’s taken over by the Saudi Arabians, I think that really, more than anything else, helps AEW. Just because of people getting mad. I’m not supporting them because wrestling, hey, let’s face it, it’s an American invention. And they have taken it through and through the days of Vince McMahon and all this. But now to have a bunch of Saudi Arabians conducting the business, I think a lot of people just say, ‘No, I’m done with it. Completely done.’ That will help AEW more than anything.
