What WWE Changed Last Minute During John Cena’s Pipebomb Promo

John Cena WWE Wave

John Cena’s pipebomb on SmackDown was aimed at CM Punk.

The Franchise Player’s match against Ron Killings concluded with The Best in the World rushing out to the ring. However, John Cena got the best of Punk and put him through the table with an Attitude Adjustment.

Following that, John Cena perched himself atop the turnbuckle and dropped a pipebomb, breaking the 4th wall, and verbally maiming CM Punk.

John Cena’s pipebomb segment had very little input from WWE

It had been reported that The Leader of Cenation is writing his promos and segments ever since the angle started. So, whatever fans heard Cena say on WWE SmackDown was his brainchild. Reportedly, he is doing what he wants, how he wants, and WWE is letting him.

During the segment, CM Punk lay on the table for quite a while. Finally, a referee arrived to check on him. During a recent WrestleVotes Q&A on Sportskeeda WrestleBinge, WrestleVotes revealed that WWE sent a referee to the ring to avoid the segment becoming cringe with The Best in the World just lying inside the ring.

It’s funny you say that because I heard on Saturday that if you go back and rewatch the segment, you’ll see after about five minutes of him laying there, a referee slides into the ring to check on him. I heard they did that to make it seem less cringy that he was just lying there. So that wasn’t supposed to be the case, but someone in the back said, ‘He can’t just lay there for 10 minutes, send somebody out,’ and that’s what they did.
