What Does WWE Have Planned For Cody Rhodes?

Cody Rhodes holding Undisputed WWE Championship

Cody Rhodes won’t have long to celebrate his recent win over AJ Styles.

At Backlash, Cody Rhodes pinned AJ Styles to retain the Undisputed WWE Championship. The match was praised by fans and critics alike, with Dave Meltzer awarding it five stars in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

So with the gold still firmly around his waist, the question becomes what next?

According to a new report from Meltzer in the Newsletter, he’ll be in the main event of King and Queen of the Ring on May 25th, with his title on the line.

We were told by those in WWE that Rhodes is pegged for the main event on this show in a title match and the opponent should start being built imminently since the show is so close at hand.

The Rock Vs. Cody Rhodes At WrestleMania 41

In the same issue, Meltzer also notes that WWE’s current plans call for The Rock to face Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 41. However, there’s no guarantee Rhodes will still be Undisputed WWE Champion by the time the event rolls around.

Rhodes was pinned by Rock on night one of WrestleMania 40, and the pair came face to face on the following episode of Raw, seemingly planting the seed for a match in the future.
