Ex-WCW Star Wants Kenny Omega To Jump Ship To WWE
A wrestling legend believes that the best thing Kenny Omega can do for his career is leave AEW and go to WWE.
Kenny Omega has accomplished a lot in his career as a pro wrestler. Omega became a big name in the business after becoming a main event attraction and the IWGP World Champion in New Japan.
When AEW launched in 2019, Kenny Omega was one of the Executive Vice Presidents of the company. As a wrestler, Omega has won AEW’s Tag Team Titles, Trios Tag Team Titles and had a memorable reign as a heel AEW World Champion as well.
Unfortunately for Omega, he lost all of 2024 due to his diverticulitis illness that required surgery, and also missed eight months in 2022 while recovering from injuries as well.
What Omega hasn’t done in his career is compete at WrestleMania for WWE. He was under contract for WWE developmental early in his career, but he was released and never went back to the company.
Kenny Omega Should “Go To WWE And Get The Star Treatment”
Konnan is a WCW and Mexican wrestling legend who is a booker for the AAA promotion in Mexico. Konnan also has a podcast called Keepin’ It 100 where he recently claimed Omega was unhappy in AEW during part of his run there and suggested that Omega go to WWE.
“I know that he was working without a contract which he was unhappy about, but I don’t how long he has on his contract. But bro, the guy’s got to be like 40 … 41, 42 somewhere like that okay? And is that where you want to end your career?
You already had a grip of five star matches, you don’t need to prove anything else. Go to WWE and get the star treatment and don’t be a big fish in a little pond.”
In addition to being a pro wrestler like Omega, Konnan also had diverticulitis in the past like Omega and revealed more info about what Omega went through.
“They cut his lower intestine and he was there four times for a month, incredible.”
Even though Konnan might want Omega to jump to WWE, Omega reportedly signed a four-year deal in mid-2023, which means he will be in AEW until at least mid-2027 and likely longer since the company could add another year onto his contract due to time missed.
Kenny Omega had his first AEW match in over a year on Dynamite’s Maximum Carnage episode when he defeated Brian Cage. After the match, Omega and Will Ospreay were attacked by the Don Callis Family’s Cage, Lance Archer, Kyle Fletcher, and Konosuke Takeshita. It could lead to an Omega-Ospreay tag team, but no match has been announced yet.
