Vince McMahon Made WWE Hall Of Famer Paralyzed By Fear
A wrestling legend was worried about how Vince McMahon would react after a mistake was made in a match.
As the WWE Chairman for over 40 years, Vince McMahon was known by some people for wanting to bring the best out of his performers, but he was also known for being ruthless and a hard man to please.
Bubba Ray Dudley is a WWE and TNA Hall of Famer who was part of the Dudley Boyz tag team with “brother” D-Von Dudley. The Dudleys will always be remembered as one of the greatest teams in wrestling history, but like anybody else in pro wrestling, they made mistakes too.
In his hosting role on Busted Open Radio, Bubba Ray Dudley (aka Bully Ray) told a story about how was scared about Vince McMahon’s reaction after the Dudleys had a match that went over the allotted television time they were given for the match.
“We went five minutes over. If you go one minute over on live TV, you’re getting your ass chewed out. Five minutes over? You’re fired.”
How Did Vince McMahon React To The Dudleys Match Going Long?
Bubba continued his story by revealing that he wasn’t punished by Vince McMahon because the WWE boss liked the match.
“Vince looks at me, and he says, ‘If you ever go five minutes over on my live television show again…it better be as good as that.’ That was the first time I ever froze in the wrestling business. I don’t think it ever happened again. I was paralyzed by fear. This was real.”
“If you messed up your match, the old man was gonna be staring at you with his glasses down at the tip of his nose, waving his finger, ‘Come over here.’”
Vince McMahon is no longer a part of WWE after a former employee named Janel Grant filed a lawsuit against Vince, WWE, and John Laurinaitis where she alleged sex trafficking and sexual harassment. McMahon and his lawyers have denied the claims repeatedly while Grant’s legal team continues to fight for their client.
