Vince McMahon Return Could Cause An “Uproar” In WWE
WWE Superstars and staff have been giving their reaction to the startling news that Vince McMahon is returning to the company according to a new report.
Vince McMahon retired as Chairman and CEO of WWE in July 2022 amid an investigation into alleged sexual misconduct and ‘hush money’ payments made to former female employees of the company. Although that investigation is complete, recent reports have suggested that McMahon is being pursued for other damages in addition to two other allegations, one of which was made by former WWE referee Rita Chatterton who says McMahon raped her in the 1980s.
Now the wrestling world has been rocked once again with the news that Vince McMahon intends to return to the company with the former Chairman issuing his own statement confirming his intentions.
Now Fightful Select has reported on the reaction of those within WWE to the news. The report suggests that nobody within WWE was made aware of the news prior to it breaking courtesy of the Wall Street Journal. Although one talent is quoted as saying that “considering some people from his regime were kept this long, they must have known it would happen, we’ll see if they talk to us tomorrow [at the SmackDown taping on January 6th].”
Two sources within WWE’s creative department are said to be unaware of any potential changes to their duties going forward. The overwhelming reaction to the reports from inside the company is that it is “bad news” or “news above their pay grade.”
Another talent is quoted as saying that they “don’t believe a word [McMahon] says” and that they hope “current management and everything doesn’t change, but only time will tell.” While another WWE Superstar suggested there would be an “uproar” if Vince McMahon returned to run creative in place of Triple H. A recently signed talent also added that they’d be “blown away” if McMahon returned to creative in any way.
