A Netflix documentary series covering Vince McMahon’s life finally has a premiere date.

It was first announced in October 2020 that Netflix and WWE were working together to produce a multiple-part docuseries about the life of former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon. A lot of things in WWE and Vince McMahon’s life have changed since then, but there is an official about the docuseries launch.

The Netflix social media accounts announced that the Vince McMahon docuseries will launch on September 25th.

“Mr. McMahon, a documentary series chronicling the rise and fall of the WWE’s controversial founder, is coming to Netflix on September 25. From Chris Smith, Executive Producer of Tiger King, and Bill Simmons. Including interviews with McMahon prior to his resignation, his family, and some of the most iconic names in wrestling history. As well as the journalists who uncovered McMahon’s allegations.”

More details have also been reported by Variety, who stated that there will be six episodes running one hour in length meaning the total docuseries will have a runtime of about six hours.

“‘Mr. McMahon’ chronicles the rise and fall of Vince McMahon, controversial businessman and co-founder of WWE. From his transformation of the WWE from a small, regional business into a global entertainment powerhouse to the explosive sexual misconduct allegations that led to his eventual resignation, this six-episode series offers a deep dive into McMahon’s life and his enduring franchise.

Culled from over 200 hours of interviews with McMahon himself (prior to his resignation), his family members, business associates and some of the most iconic names in wrestling history, as well as the journalists who uncovered McMahon’s allegations — filmmaker Chris Smith (‘Tiger King’) and executive producer Bill Simmons (’30 for 30′) present an unflinching, no-holds-barred look at one of the most enigmatic figures in sports entertainment.”

Chris Smith of “Tiger King” fame is one of the filmmakers involved in producing the documentary.

“The goal behind ‘Mr. McMahon’ was to pull back the curtain and reveal the true Vince McMahon, obscured beneath the persona he presented to the world. Over the four years of production, the story evolved in truly shocking ways, culminating in some extremely harrowing allegations. The final product is a revealing documentary that we believe offers a rich and nuanced portrait of the man and the complex legacy he left behind.”

Vince McMahon No Longer Associated With WWE

When the McMahon-Netflix documentary was first announced in October 2020, Vince McMahon was still the company’s Chairman & CEO who was running the company creatively.

In present-day WWE, Vince McMahon was told to resign as Executive Chairman of TKO in early 2024, which he ended up doing prior to WrestleMania this year. That’s because McMahon was named in a serious sexual assault and sex trafficking bombshell lawsuit filed by a former WWE employee named Janel Grant.

While Vince McMahon is no longer involved with WWE in any way, World Wrestling Entertainment secured a huge streaming deal with Netflix for Raw that will see Raw premiere on Netflix for at least a five-year run starting in January 2025 while also airing all WWE shows to fans internationally.

According to Executive Bill Simmons of The Ringer, he has stated that in the past that Vince McMahon has no say in the final cut of what is shown in the documentary.
