Vince McMahon Right There With Chris Benoit Says WWE Hall Of Famer

Vince McMahon WWE

Vince McMahon is facing the fight of his life for his reputation but that battle might already be lost according to WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff.

Vince McMahon has been accused of sexual assault and sex trafficking in a bombshell new lawsuit. The filing contains obscene text messages allegedly sent by McMahon including gruesome details of sexual encounters with the former WWE employee who has filed the suit. Former Head of Talent Relations is also named in the suit while media outlets have named Brock Lesnar as the unnamed WWE star also implicated.

One of WWE’s main sponsors threatened to pull advertising from the Royal Rumble as a result of the claims and that led to Vince McMahon resigning from his position as TKO Executive Chairman.

Vince McMahon No Longer Exists In WWE’s World

Speaking on his 83 Weeks podcast, Eric Bischoff gave his candid assessment of the situation and noted that for many people – including WWE and TKO – Vince McMahon will be classed alongside a former talent who is never mentioned:

The name McMahon I think, he’s gonna be right there with Chris Benoit in the minds of a lot of people as a name not to be mentioned the way things look at this point.

I fought with Vince, I battled with him, I did everything I could to undermine him. But at the end of it all, I respected the guy that beat my ass because that’s what fighters do. If somebody’s good enough to beat me in something you’ve got to respect their abilities. And even for me this is difficult, I can’t even imagine what it’s like for [McMahon’s] kids and the grandkids. It’s just disgusting.

You talk about the name, you go into Vince’s office and he’s got pictures of his father and his grandfather and newspaper articles of things his father accomplished and his grandfather accomplished. Gone, dark closet, stick it in a box and hide it. Nobody wants to be reminded anymore. It wasn’t just a name, they wiped Vince McMahon off the WWE and TKO corporate websites. He didn’t exist starting today and that’s not gonna change.

Chris Benoit infamously killed his wife Nancy and their son Daniel over a tragic weekend in June 2007. Before details of the nature of their deaths came to light, WWE cancelled the Monday night edition of Raw and aired a tribute to Benoit instead. The following night before ECW aired, Vince McMahon appeared in a pre-taped segment where he told viewers that the name of Chris Benoit would never be mentioned on WWE TV again and this has remained true.

Vince McMahon has called the allegations made against him “replete with lies” and has vowed to clear his name.
