Vince McMahon’s Brutal Response To Fans Unhappy With WrestleMania Match
Vince McMahon did not give a single f**k how fans felt about his decision on a specific WrestleMania match.
When Kurt Angle returned to WWE in 2016, few people expected him to have many wrestling matches. But it was expected that he’d have a retirement match, especially considering how big of a star he was during his time in the company.
So when the time came to plan out Kurt Angle’s retirement match, fans presented many ideas. The most popular one was for Angle to face John Cena, which made sense given how important Angle was to Cena’s career.
However, Vince McMahon had other plans.
Instead of going with Cena, or with another wrestler that could work with Angle’s physical limitations, Vince chose Baron Corbin to face Angle at WrestleMania 35 in 2019.
If that decision itself didn’t anger fans, the resulting match between Angle and Corbin certainly did. One doesn’t have to go far to see bottom-of-the-barrel ratings and comments from fans and other critics.
Vince McMahon was warned that fans would react in such a way. but according to Dave Schilling, a former creative writer for WWE, Vince really and truly didn’t care what the fans thought.
“Oh no it’s Kurt Angle Vs Baron Corbin. When it was mentioned in a production meeting that the fans hated the idea of this match, Vince laughed so hard and said “f**k ‘em.”

After retiring, Kurt Angle has spent most of his time doing cameo appearances for WWE, discussing his career on his podcast, and getting much-needed surgery to fix his badly ravaged body.
Meanwhile, Vince McMahon is still involved with WWE in 2023, though exactly how much control he has over things isn’t 100% certain.
