Asuka and Damage CTRL WWE logo blur

The former Women’s Champion has been out of action since May 2024.

WWE has been dealing with a number of injuries in the past year. The company has had to change plans becuase of them, but in many cases, the stars do tend to return sooner than expected. However, one such star that is yet to return is Asuka.

Asuka wrestled her last match at WWE Backlash last year. Asuka and Kairi Sane were a tag team at the time and called themselves the Kabuki Warriors. The duo were the Women’s Tag Team Champions and had put their titles on the line against Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill. The Kabuki Warriors came up short in their match and lost the titles. Since then, the Princess Of Tomorrow has been missing in action due to injury.

According to Fightful Select, WWE knew soon after Suka’s injury that she would likely miss the rest of 2024, including WrestleMania 41. While the exact nature of the injury was unconfirmed, its severity ruled her out of major plans. Creative ideas for her return have been discussed since early 2024, though her comeback isn’t expected anytime soon.

When Did Asuka Win The Women’s WWE MITB Briefcase?

Asuka fought for the women’s Money In The Bank briefcase back in 2020. The match was held in the WWE Headquarters at the time of COVID. She beat Carmella, Dana Brooke, Lacey Evans, Nia Jax, and Shayna Baszler to win her first briefcase.

On the following episode of WWE RAW, Becky Lynch made her way to the ring with the briefcase and told the fans that she was going on a hiatus. This led a confused Asuka to the ring, only for The Man to tell her that winning the briefcase meant that she won the RAW Women’s Title. Lynch then confirmed her pregnancy as the reason behind her leave of absence.
