Update On Future Of WWE King & Queen Of The Ring

King & Queen of the Ring was originally set to take place in Saudi Arabia on May 27th but WWE pivoted and rebranded the event to be Night of Champions instead.

That meant the last King of the Ring tournament to take place in WWE happened in 2021 when Xavier Woods won the tournament to become King Xavier. The final of that competition took place in Saudi Arabia at that year’s Crown Jewel event and The New Day star wasn’t the only one to earn himself a bit of royalty that night.

The event also saw the culmination of the Queen’s Crown tournament which saw Zelina Vega become Queen Zelina when she defeated Doudrop (Piper Niven) in the final.

2023 was due to see the first-ever Queen of the Ring tournament take place but Night of Champions usurped the event and was headlined by Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa challenging Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn for the WWE Tag Team Championship.

Fightful Select has now reported that the future of King and Queen of the Ring remains uncertain but was noted that WWE is keeping the event in its back pocket for a future event in Saudi Arabia. Those in the know are said to have not heard if that means the event could yet be rescheduled for later this year.
