Update On Dakota Kai’s Status Following WWE SummerSlam Return
A new report provides an update on Dakota Kai once again traveling with WWE.
The May 12th edition of SmackDown saw Bayley and Dakota Kai team up as they tried to capture the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship from then-champions Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez. The Damage CTRL duo were unsuccessful, but failing to capture gold was the least of Dakota Kai’s worries as she suffered a torn ACL during the bout.
Fans were surprised, therefore, when Kai made a shock return at SummerSlam in Detroit, MI to celebrate alongside her fellow Damage CTRL members after IYO SKY cashed in her Money in the Bank contract and defeated the newly-crowned Bianca Belair to capture the WWE Women’s Championship for the first time.
Will Dakota Kai Continue To Be On SmackDown?
Fans began to speculate whether Dakota Kai had healed from her injury, especially after the star appeared on the SmackDown following SummerSlam as well. However, speaking on a recent Twitch stream, she set the record straight and revealed that she still had months before she expected to be involved in any physical activity.
“There’s a misconception with me being on SmackDown. I’m not healed. You’ll probably notice that I’m not really involved with anything that requires ‘activity.’ Let’s put it that way. I still have just under six months to go before I’m actually cleared.” (h/t SEScoops)
A new report from PWInsider Elite sheds more light on her situation, saying that while this wasn’t the plan when she made her SummerSlam return, Kai has returned to the road with SmackDown on a full time basis and is expected to be at every taping despite being a long way off from being cleared for in-ring competition.
Dakota Kai and fellow SmackDown star Zelina Vega recently announced that they will be starting a new gaming podcast that will be coming to YouTube soon.
