Update On Carlito’s Delayed Return To WWE
Carlito is believed to be signed to WWE but has yet to appear…now that’s not cool.
Backlash took place in Puerto Rico earlier in 2023 and saw rap star Bad Bunny take on Damian Priest in a wild San Juan Street Fight. The match saw The Judgment Day get involved which brought out the LWO and Puerto Rico’s own Carlito. The former Intercontinental Champion received a raucous reception from the lively crowd as he took the fight to Finn Balor and Dominik Mysterio.
Carlito believed to be signed with WWE
Reports from the summer had suggested Carlito had re-signed with WWE but now several months removed, he has yet to make another appearance for the company.
Speaking about the situation on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that Carlito is believed to be signed to WWE after pulling out of independent bookings but adds the company has yet to figure out how to use him:
“Yeah, He signed at the start of July. He pulled off all his Indies, so he must have signed, and they were ready to start. He had a start date. He went. He was there. They couldn’t figure out what to do with him. And they still haven’t figured out what to do with him.”
Carlito last competed in a WWE ring back in 2021 after he returned at that year’s men’s Royal Rumble match. His time in the company as a full-time star ended in 2010 when he refused to attend rehab following a wellness policy violation.
