Update On CM Punk’s Effect On AEW Collision Ticket Sales
AEW President Tony Khan finally revealed the open secret on Dynamite when he announced that CM Punk will be a part of the debut edition of Collision.
Punk’s return to AEW had been rumored for months and it is believed the former AEW World Champion will be the cornerstone of the company’s new Saturday night show which debuts in Chicago, Illinois on June 17th.
Now WrestleTix has noted that following the announcement of Punk for the show, an extra 994 tickets have been sold for the event bringing the total so far to 8,000. It is believed with the current set-up for the United Center that 2,214 tickets remain available for the event.
Fightful Select recently gave a possible insight into the future creative plans for Punk in AEW with the star said to have “taken a liking to the work of Jay White.” That could lead to CM Punk doing battle with Switchblade and embarking on a wider feud with the top-shelf gunslingers in Bullet Club Gold.
The report also noted that Ace Steel – whose return had caused some issues ahead of Punk’s comeback being announced – was said to be seen by those backstage as a “valuable creative member” before the incident at All Out. It was noted that Steel’s skillset is believed to have been underestimated by fans online but it is also believed that All Out fight likely wouldn’t have erupted to the point it did if he hadn’t been involved.
