Triple H Confirms WWE WrestleMania 42 Change, Announces Major PLE In New Orleans
Triple H posted a video on social media that WWE is taking WrestleMania 42 away from New Orleans and bringing another major show to the city.
The Rock announced in February that WrestleMania 42 would be held in New Orleans in April 2026. Three months later, WWE decided to take a different approach.
It has been reported that WWE decided to take WrestleMania 42 away from New Orleans and, instead, go to Las Vegas for the second year in a row for WrestleMania 42.
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that WWE decided to return to Las Vegas because of the success of WrestleMania 41 in the city.
The decision was made partially because his year’s WrestleMania made so much money overall in Las Vegas from all sources that they could not make that level of money in New Orleans. The other is that the company loved having it in Las Vegas, because key TKO executives live there and are there and Nick Khan grew up there.
Since the news came out on Thursday, WWE didn’t officially comment on it. One hour before WWE SmackDown on Friday, WWE’s Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque posted a video on social media to confirm that WrestleMania 42 isn’t going to take place in New Orleans as initially planned.
While addressing the shift to the WWE calendar, Triple H announced that Money in the Bank 2026 is coming to New Orleans.
“Coming to New Orleans on Saturday, August 29, 2026 will be Money in the Bank. Money in the Bank is one of our biggest events of the year with high stakes, amazing drama, and the chance of a lifetime for two WWE Superstars to walk away with the coveted Money in the Bank briefcase. We can’t wait and we look forward to seeing you there.”
It’s an interesting decision to announce Money in the Bank 2026 in New Orleans, which is over one year. The date of that show, August 29, 2026, is also a change for WWE since it will be four weeks after SummerSlam 2026 in Minneapolis on August 1-2, 2026. Most years, including this year, Money in the Bank is before SummerSlam, so that’s different in 2026.
Triple H Announces New Orleans Will Still Get A Future WrestleMania
Even though WrestleMania 42 won’t be in New Orleans, Triple H’s message stated that the city would get a future WrestleMania.
“Stay tuned for more details on a WrestleMania coming to New Orleans, which will be announced at a later date.”
New Orleans hosted WrestleMania 30 in 2014 and WrestleMania 34 in 2018. Both events were well received and there were no reported issues, but clearly, WWE officials like having WrestleMania in Las Vegas, and that’s why they decided to make the change.
