Triple H Was Against Vince McMahon’s WWE Creative Change For Huge Match

WWE Triple H Vince McMahon

Triple H and Vince McMahon haven’t always seen eye-to-eye when it came to WWE shows.

The scripts were prone to change until the very last minute with The Big Man, and were often met with chaos and frustration from others.

Currently, The Game is the Chief Content Officer and pulling the strings. However, lately, he has been targeted for producing poor storylines and not using superstars to their utmost potential.

Vince McMahon is the one who changed the ending of WrestleMania 39

At WrestleMania 39, Roman Reigns retained the Undisputed WWE Championship against Cody Rhodes. The American Nightmare would go on to finish the story next year at WrestleMania 40 by dethroning Roman Reigns.

Original plans were for Cody Rhodes to dethrone Reigns at WrestleMania 39. It was Roman Reigns who directly pitched that The OTC retains the championship at WrestleMania 39 to make a bigger impact at WrestleMania 40. Vince McMahon liked the idea and approved the change.

According to Dave Meltzer from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Triple H wasn’t convinced when he first heard of it, but did come around to the idea with time. The Game was convinced that changing the champion at WrestleMania 39 would have been grand, but undoubtedly, WrestleMania 40 turned out to be much grander!

WrestleMania 40 did hit a snag when The Rock joined TKO and replaced Cody Rhodes in the main event. However, fans demanded that the main event be Rhodes vs. Reigns, and plans were reverted.
