Triple H Says WWE Is “A Movie About A Sport”
Triple H has outlined his aims with the content produced by WWE.
WWE produces an incredible amount of content every week, ranging from its flagship TV shows to social media videos, and everything in between. So much is released through multiple platforms that fans might find it difficult to keep up. However, Triple H says there is a reason they are producing so much.
During his recent appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, The WWE Chief Content Officer explained that WWE fans are “ravenous” for the content. He also believes it is consumed by people with different mindsets on what makes pro wrestling interesting. This is partly due to its unique position as a “movie about a sport” rather than an actual sport, meaning there is more intrigue surrounding storylines.
“Our fanbase is so ravenous for (content). There is nothing else that episodically airs. I say this a lot; we’re not a sport. We’re a movie about a sport or a TV show about a sport. The interest of all the other things happening are just as great as what happens in the ring.
“People are so interested, in not only those storylines, but who are the real people behind those storylines? The drama behind it. If you’re younger or want to buy into it that much, the drama of the storylines.
“If you’re in a different mindset, the drama of what is happening behind the scenes. ‘Is that guy leaving? Has he signed a contract? Is he going to stay? I heard he has problems with management, they’re trying to restrict his style.’
“Whatever your mindset is, you can go there and follow up with it on a regular basis. The content is easy to watch and easy to understand. You can sit on a bus or train and watch clips.”
Triple H Heaps Praise On “Genius” WWE Executive
During the same interview, Triple H praised WWE President Nick Khan as the best businessman he’s ever met. The Game explained that Khan’s intuition on what was happening in the wider sports world was so impressive that investors would ask his opinion on other companies during WWE earnings calls.
