Triple H Comments On Running WWE Differently Than Vince McMahon

Triple H has discussed his vision regarding how he runs WWE differently than Vince McMahon as the company heads to WrestleMania 40.

It’s WrestleMania week, which means all eyes are truly on WWE as they present the last Raw before WrestleMania from Brooklyn, the NXT brand builds to Saturday’s Stand & Deliver, PLE and Friday is a busy night with the Smackdown before WrestleMania along with the Hall of Fame. All of that leads into WrestleMania 40 on April 6th and April 7th from Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.

The two WrestleMania 40 main events, as booked by WWE’s Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque will see Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins wrestle on both WrestleMania nights. That’s because Reigns will team with The Rock against Cody & Seth on April 6th in a match that will determine if it’s Bloodline Rules or No BLoodline for the Roman-Cody match on April 7th which is for Roman’s Undisputed WWE Universal Title.

While WWE hasn’t publicly admitted they were going with Roman Reigns against The Rock at WrestleMania 40 instead of Reigns-Cody, it is believed that is the case. However, WWE listened to the fans and after Cody won the Royal Rumble, they had him say he was going after Reigns at WrestleMania even though he initially stepped aside for The Rock.

It is essentially a call made by WWE’s management team led by Chief Content Officer Triple H, who is essentially the main booker and the guy that calls the shot just like his father did for about 40 years before July 2022 “retirement” and controversial ouster earlier this year due to a scandalous sex-trafficking lawsuit brought on by a former employee..

In an interview with ESPN, Triple H admitted that he does think differently than his ousted father-in-law Vince McMahon.

“Now it’s a different time, and the way I do things is slightly different, My career, I learned from being here, but there were things along the way that I always thought I would do differently. In this time now, I get to make those calls and with a large team of people. Whether people will want to believe it or not, I think we were sort of looking at this as here’s where we’re going to go to get this started and it has the opportunity of going this way or that way.”

Triple H Says WWE Has To Call Audibles Every Week

As he continued, Triple H used a football term about calling audibles. In football, calling an audible is when the original play that was called is changed (by a coach or the quarterback) at the line of scrimmage due to something they see with the defense. In WWE terms, an audible is called because it’s important to listen to crowd reactions.

“We always have to call audibles every single week. Everything you do is dependent on reactions. That’s what we do as an industry. … The beautiful thing with this group and with Cody and Roman and Rock especially, everybody’s got their ear to the ground. … And then we all just get together and figure the s— out.”

In other WWE news, the company sent out a press release earlier on Monday touting their ratings growth over the last year, particularly in the 18-49 demographic.
