Triple H Explains What He Likes About WWE Speed
Triple H believes the fast-paced nature of the new WWE Speed show has been “spectacular” to watch.
There was recently a tournament to crown the first-ever WWE Speed champion with the first episode of a tournament airing on April 3rd. The WWE Speed show airs exclusively on WWE’s Twitter/X account. The matches have a three-minute time limit, which means it’s all about the action and going for the win.
The eight men who competed in the WWE Speed tournament to crown the first champion were Johnny Gargano, Angel, Bronson Reed, Cedric Alexander, JD McDonagh, Axiom, Ricochet, and Dragon Lee.
In the WWE Speed finals, which aired earlier on May 3rd, Ricochet defeated Johnny Gargano. Every match on WWE Speed prior to it was only three minutes long, but the championship match went five minutes. Ricochet got the win after doing a cartwheel into a Cutter for the pinfall victory.
Triple H Says WWE Speed Has Been Embraced By The Talent
During a Spaces session on X, WWE’s Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque talked about what he really likes about the Speed show.
“If we could take sort of that feeling out process that talent have in the ring with each other and just have them go from go for broke right when the bell rings, because they only have three minutes to get the job done”
So there’s no [time to waste]. [Competitors have to get] to an ending quickly. It makes for an exciting challenge for the guys. It makes for an exciting challenge for eventually what will be for the women as well. And so far, it’s been spectacular. The talent have really embraced this and gotten into it and the challenge of it. So it’s been exciting for them, and it’s been exciting for our fans as well.”
Triple H also stated during the Spaces session that WWE plans on doing a women’s version of the Speed show although they didn’t announce a start date.
