Triple H Fires Shot At AEW
Triple H has caused a stir with his comments about AEW.
Triple H has never been shy about giving his opinion and he’s been known to take a public shot at AEW, just as he did when he referred to Tony Khan’s promotion as a “pissant company” during DX’s WWE Hall of Fame induction in 2019. And now WWE’s CCO is at it again.
Triple H is featured in a clip from the Being Cody Rhodes documentary where he discusses Rhodes leaving AEW to return to WWE and says the star’s dream was to be champion of WWE, not anywhere else:
“To then take that gamble again and to say this is not what I wanted to be, I didn’t grow up dreaming of being the champion or the face of a secondary promotion. I wanted to be WWE Champion.”
Cody Rhodes talks about why he really left AEW:
βI left AEW because of a personal issueβthatβs it, but the byproduct of leaving AEW is the opportunity to go for the biggest dream I ever had, and the first dream I had in my life.β

Cody Rhodes’ legendary father Dusty Rhodes never held the WWE Championship during his illustrious career but did capture the NWA World Heavyweight Championship on three separate occasions.
How many times has Triple H been WWE Champion?
Although Cody Rhodes has yet to grasp the WWE Championship himself, Triple H held that title on several occasions. The Game first won the big one back in August 1999 when he defeated Mankind before losing the gold improbably to Vince McMahon just a few short weeks later.
In total Triple H held that championship nine times but also held the World Heavyweight Championship on five occasions meaning he is considered a 14-times world champion in WWE – just two reigns off the record held by Ric Flair and John Cena.
