Triple H Details Disagreement With Vince McMahon At WWE WrestleMania 38

Triple H speaking to Vince McMahon

Triple H has been leading the WWE creative team ever since the company was taken over by Endeavor. However, he had to go through obstacles to reach this position. This wasn’t handed out to him just because he is Vince McMahon’s son-in-law!

Recently, Stephanie McMahon and Triple H had a conversation on Stephanie’s Places. The episode, Triple H’s Perfect Entrance, dove deep into The Game’s career and the legacy he created in WWE. During the conversation, they spoke about The Cerebral Assassin’s fatal health scare in 2021.

Triple H had gone into heart failure owing to viral pneumonia that resulted in fluid accumulation around his heart and lungs. The life-threatening situation required him to have a defibrillator implanted in his chest, ending his wrestling career. He officially retired as an active pro-wrestler at WrestleMania 38.

Triple H had a different approach to opening WrestleMania 38 than Vince McMahon

On Night 2 of WrestleMania 38, The Big Man asked him to open the show. However, Vince McMahon did not want him leaving his boots in the ring. The former CEO believed it would be a downer, but The Game believed it would mark his return, but just not as a pro-wrestler.

The moment in Dallas, you know, Vince asked me to go and open the show. The idea of putting my boots in the ring was not what he had in mind. Like, why do you want to, like, I don’t know, open the show with a downer? And I said, I don’t see it as a downer. Like, I sort of see it as a triumphant moment. I’m back. I’m not going to wrestle anymore but I am f***ing back.

Fans have been in awe of The Game’s creative direction and long-term storytelling. In the first half of 2025, Triple H has given the WWE Universe a heel John Cena, Paul Heyman betraying Roman Reigns, Jey Uso’s first singles World Championship, and Becky Lynch’s return!
