Triple H Comments On If He Watches AEW
Triple H has responded to questions about if he watches AEW with a point-blank “no” response while noting that he only follows it “to a degree.”
It’s been a busy time for Triple H due to WWE hosting the massive Clash at the Castle event in Cardiff, Wales on Saturday with over 60,000+ fans in attendance. As the WWE Head of Creative, the WWE Hall of Famer has a lot of decisions to make on a daily basis, yet he still finds time to do press conferences and grant exclusive interviews.
During a recent interview with Ariel Helwani of BT Sport, Triple H was asked about All Elite Wrestling. When AEW was brought up in the conversation previous, Triple H dismissed AEW beating WWE NXT in the “Wednesday Night Wars” in the past while noting that NXT is a developmental system. This time, Triple H was asked if he paid attention to AEW:
“It’s funny, I’ve heard Nick [Khan] say that. And I’ve heard people say to me it’s a cop-out answer. It’s not a cop-out answer, everything is competition to us, we [WWE] pay attention to everything, you have to. Do we pay attention to AEW? Do I watch it on a week-to-week basis? No. Am I aware of what’s happening there? To a degree.”
“I’m not following everything they do. There are some times I’ll see that somebody would say, ‘Well it’s very similar to what they [AEW] are doing.’ No idea. Yeah, you know, at the end of the day, you have to focus on what you’re doing. You have to focus on your product. Because no matter what anybody else is doing, if people want to watch that product, [there’s] nothing I can do about it. There’s nothing that’s going to prevent me from doing that, right? Focus on my product, make my product the best product it can possibly be.”
In addition to the AEW topic, Triple H answered other questions related to former WWE Women’s Champion Sasha Banks, and the situation involving Brock Lesnar walking out and returning to Smackdown in July. At the post-Clash presser, Triple H noted that WWE plans on doing more international stadium events.
Triple H also recently received the new job title of Chief Content Officer to reflect his role as the Head of WWE Creative. Triple H is also the WWE Executive Vice President of Talent Relations as well.
