Another Vince McMahon tradition has been dropped.

On April 4th, Triple H announced that Grammy Award winner Coco Jones will perform the American national anthem to open WrestleMania Saturday.

Excited to welcome Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter @TheRealCocoJ to #WrestleMania XL this weekend, where she’ll perform our country’s National Anthem to kick off @WrestleMania Saturday.

There’s no word on who will perform on night two.

Interestingly, America The Beautiful has traditionally been performed at the event, but it seems this has been dropped. WrestleMania 40 is the first time that Vince McMahon hasn’t had an influence over the spectacular he created back in 1985.

Vince McMahon Accused Of Intimidation Tactics

Vince McMahon left the TKO Group Board of Directors after being named in a lawsuit alleging sex trafficking and sexual assault. The suit filed by former WWE employee Janel Grant contains allegations that both McMahon and John Laurinaitis sexually assaulted her.

On April 1st, the New York Post published a 2,200-word ‘love letter’ written by Grant to McMahon in December 2021. Grant’s lawyer Ann Callis claims her client was coerced into writing the letter.

In a later interview, Callis described the release of the letter as an attempt at “intimidation tactics” and victim-shaming by Vince McMahon.

An attorney for McMahon denied the letter was coerced, and reiterated his earlier claims of innocence.
