Trick Williams Next NXT Title Challenger Revealed
Trick Williams knew that any one of 25 men would be next in line for his NXT Championship but now he knows exactly who his next challenger is.
WWE Champion Cody Rhodes ended up sharing the ring with NXT Champion Trick Williams on the 11th of June and told Williams that the next challenger for his title would come from a 25-man battle royal on next week’s edition of the show. Cody Rhodes cautioned that there might be some talent from other locker rooms as part of that match leaving the door open to those on Raw, SmackDown, or even outside of WWE.
On the 18th of June edition of NXT, that battle royal opened the show and Rhodes’ promise about different locker rooms came good as TNA’s Joe Hendry made his entrance. However, Hendry’s TNA issues soon put paid to his efforts at winning as he was quickly eliminated by the man who defeated Hendry at Against All Odds, Frankie Kazarian.
Trick Williams To Face Je’Von Evans For NXT Gold
Kazarian made it to the final four of the match alongside another ex-AEW star in Shawn Spears as well as Je’Von Evans and Dragon Lee. Evans got the better of Kazarian while Spears eliminated Lee leaving those two stars as the last men standing. In the end, it was the hugely impressive 20-year-old Je’Von Evans that picked up the win meaning he’ll face Trick Williams for the NXT Championship.
Later in the night, Je’Von Evans lost in a singles match to Ethan Page that ended in complete chaos. Shawn Spears attacked Evans leading to Williams making the save with all four men laid out as the show went off the air.
