Top WWE Star Uses CM Punk’s GTS On Raw

CM Punk Go 2 Sleep Vince McMahon

One top WWE star may have had CM Punk in mind on Monday Night Raw.

Ever since CM Punk was fired by AEW following an investigation into his behaviour in the company after another backstage fight, this time with Jack Perry at All In, the future of the former AEW World Champion has been a hot topic.

Many fans think a return to WWE could be on the cards, which would be a shock move in itself after Punk infamously walked out of the company in 2014. His comments on a podcast with Colt Cabana led to a legal battle between Punk and Cabana and a WWE doctor which ultimately led to the long-time best friend’s relationship falling apart.

But now some onlookers think they have spotted teases that Punk could be heading to WWE. Some spotted similarities in comments made by Michael Cole and Seth Rollins during their interview on Raw and words said by Punk in an old Ring of Honor promo.

Corey Graves has also been the focus of attention with comments he made being associated with Punk but Graves has told fans to watch The Usual Suspects for the real source of his remarks.

CM Punk’s finishing move borrowed by Shinsuke Nakamura

Now on Raw, following his loss to Seth Rollins in the main event of Fastlane, Shinsuke Nakamura has engaged in a battle with Ricochet. The two men came to blows throughout the night and when Ricochet made his entrance for his match with Bronson Reed and Chad Gable, he was laid out by Nakamura.

Nakamura hoisted Ricochet on his shoulders and delivered a Go 2 Sleep, which has long been CM Punk’s finishing move. Officials ran out to stop Nakamura before he could finish Ricochet off with the Kinshasa.

Whether or not the GTS was a nod to CM Punk or even Japanese star KENTA who innovated the move, remains to be seen. Either way, Nakamura and Ricochet will face off on the 16th of October edition of Raw in a Falls Count Anywhere match.
