One of WWE’s top wrestlers recalled struggling during their formative years.

Iyo Sky is a two-time women’s World Champion today, but her success did not come with its fair share of struggles.

After debuting in NXT in 2018, she officially joined the main roster in 2022 as part of the Damage CTRL faction alongside Bayley and Dakota Kai.

She won the women’s tag team titles with Kai twice before making a move for the Women’s Championship.

While still in the faction, Sky won the Money in the Bank, which she cashed on Bianca Belair during SummerSlam 2023 to win the singles title for the first time.

Her reign lasted 246 days, during which Bayley quit Damage CTRL and won the belt from Sky on Night 2 of WrestleMania XL.

Sky won her second major championship on the March 3, 2025, taping of WWE RAW by defeating Rhea Ripley. Subsequently, the faction also disbanded after Dakota Kai was released by the company in May.

The 35-year-old’s second title reign lasted 132 days after Naomi cashed in the MITB contract at Evolution.

Iyo Sky Wanted To Quit Wrestling Before WWE

Iyo Sky recently appeared on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, during which she revealed her initial struggles in wrestling.

She started by saying that she never watched wrestling before and was introduced to the sport by her elder sister.

Sky also spoke about how bad her first official bout was, resulting in her questioning her career choice.

I feel like I was just so embarrassed because my debut match was so bad, and maybe the audience was only 30 people, but I felt so embarrassed. So I thought I want to quit, but actually I was so frustrated as well. So maybe I have to become stronger.

However, she persisted and continued wrestling, and the rest his history.
