Top WWE Star Admits Issues With Injury
A future WWE Hall of Famer admits that the injury he is dealing with is causing issues.
The last time AJ Styles wrestled in a WWE ring was on the October 4th edition of SmackDown when he was in a match with Carmelo Hayes. During the match, Styles suffered a foot injury that led to questions about what happened.
After that episode of SmackDown, there were reports that Styles was just selling a spot in the match and he wasn’t injured, but then it was revealed that the former WWE Champion did in fact suffer an injury.
While Styles has yet to appear on WWE television since his injury, he visited TNA Wrestling recently because they were in his home state of Georgia and Styles is one of the biggest names in TNA history. Since WWE has a friendly relationship with TNA now, it’s not seen as a big deal for that kind of thing to happen in the wrestling business.
In a post on social media, AJ Styles responded to a fan question by admitting that his injury is “challenging.”

AJ Styles Received Multiple WWE Title Shots In 2024
While AJ Styles wasn’t pushed heavily throughout 2024, he did get multiple WWE Title matches when he was part of a four-way at the Royal Rumble when Roman Reigns was a champion and he got two singles matches with Cody Rhodes, including a memorable match at Backlash France with a hot crowd that loved singing songs for Styles.
There is no question that AJ Styles is near the end of his career after an incredible run over the last 25 years. Most of his career was spent in TNA wrestling from 2002 until the mid-2010s and that led to a great, shorter run in NJPW that saw him become the IWGP World Champion.
At the 2016 Royal Rumble, AJ Styles made his long-awaited WWE debut to a huge ovation. Later that year, Styles became WWE Champion for the first time, which was the first of his two World Title reigns in the company. Styles has also been an Intercontinental, United States, and Tag Team Champion as well.
Perhaps the greatest rivalry of Styles’ career in WWE was against John Cena in 2016 and early 2017. Those two legends had some incredible matches that will be remembered forever. Both men are also the same age (47 years old), so it’s possible that they could match up one more time since it is Cena’s final year as a WWE in-ring performer.
As for when Styles could return to the ring, there is no official update on when he might recover from the foot injury he is dealing with.
