Top NXT Star Reacts To Paul Heyman Calling Him Future WrestleMania Main Eventer

One of the biggest stars on the WWE NXT brand has reacted to Paul Heyman labeling him as a future WrestleMania main eventer.

It’s fair to say that former NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes has the number of Bron Breakker since he picked up another win over Bron on last night’s episode of NXT. While Hayes beat Breakker for the NXT Title earlier this year and also successfully defended the title against Breakker, this time they did it with John Cena in Hayes’ corner and Paul Heyman in the corner of Breakker.

Paul Heyman has been in pro wrestling for forty years in many different roles, including many years as an advocate/special counsel or even a manager if you want to call him that. For over three years, Heyman has been the “Wise Man” Special Counsel to the “Tribal Chief” Roman Reigns, who is the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion.

Prior to last night’s episode of NXT, Heyman spoke to Sports Illustrated and he had a lot of praise for Breakker and Hayes.

“Bron Breakker versus Carmelo Hayes, in and of itself, is a demonstration of the magnificent future this industry is going to enjoy. There are few, if any, better representatives in the talent competing for the WrestleMania main events coming up in the next several years.”

WrestleMania’s main event is something Heyman knows very well since he has been a part of many of them over the last decade with Reigns and Brock Lesnar as well.

Carmelo Hayes thinks it’s “super cool” that Paul Heyman thinks so highly of him

During an interview with Busted Open Radio, Carmelo Hayes reacted to Heyman calling him a future main eventer.

“[It’s] reassurance. It’s cool hearing things like that from him because you want to believe it about yourself, but when you hear it from somebody whose opinion really matters — it’s just great. It’s super cool.”

“Also, [feel] a little bit of pressure. It’s like, oh man, that’s how highly he thinks of me? I gotta make sure I live up to expectations, which I will.”

While Hayes remains confident in his abilities, he is no longer the NXT Champion after a six-month championship reign that ended at NXT No Mercy when Ilja Dragunov became the new champion.
