A top star on WWE’s NXT 2.0 brand appears to have suffered an undisclosed injury during the latest television tapings.

Tony D’Angelo is said to have picked up an injury during NXT 2.0’s latest TV tapings. Per WrestlingNews.co, ‘The Don’ suffered an injury to his knee during the brand’s tapings for the 20 and 27 September broadcasts, following contrasting reports that a head injury knocked him loopy.

It’s stated that D’Angelo, who was wrestling Wes Lee, was checked on after being sent crashing into the turnbuckles. The match was subsequently called off, with Tony being helped backstage after the encounter. It’s unknown what, exactly, the extent of the injury is; given its real nature, it’s entirely possible WWE won’t broadcast the match, which was taped for the latter episode.

Tony D’Angelo has been a breakout star of the NXT 2.0 era, challenging for all three of the brand’s male championships and enjoying feuds with high-ranking NXT Superstars. Perhaps most notable was his victory over Tommaso Ciampa during WrestleMania weekend, which marked the final appearance of ‘The Blackheart’ in NXT.

D’Angelo most recently competed on this past Tuesday’s edition of the show, teaming with Channing ‘Stacks’ Lorenzo in a loss to Cameron Grimes and Joe Gacy.
