Top Free Agent Drops WWE Hint
A top NJPW star wanted by WWE is keeping fans guessing.
On March 13, it was reported that WWE is taking a close look at signing Jeff Cobb. The 42-year-old powerhouse has been working with NJPW since 2017, and although he continues to wrestle for the promotion, the belief is that he’s a free agent.
The report also cited one source that claimed Cobb was already listed on the company’s internal roster. This has since been backed up in another update.
Cobb has held talks with WWE previously and came “really close” to signing in mid-2021 before deciding to stay with NJPW. Despite his free-agent status and previous appearances with the company, those within AEW aren’t expecting Cobb to become All Elite.

Speaking backstage after his loss to Shota Umino in the New Japan Cup, Cobb said he plans to finish the remainder of the tour and even said he would be waiting for the tournament winner, but it was his final line that caught the attention of fans.
The star raised his arm and his index finger while adding that the winner will be forced to acknowledge him.
I’m gonna be a good boy and finish this tournament tour and whoever walks out the New Japan Cup champion, I will come knock, knock, knocking, and whoever it is I have to fight, you will acknowledge me.
After getting the better of Cobb, Shota Umino will face Shingo Takagi in the semi-finals on March 17, with the winner going on to meet David Finlay. In the first semi-final, Finlay saw off Zack Sabre Jr.
