Tony Khan Dismisses Speculation Top Star AEW Is Retiring

Tony Khan wants to see a top AEW star return to action.

On November 20th, Toni Storm announced she was leaving AEW and the sport of professional wrestling behind. After months of big losses in AEW, Japan, and Mexico, Storm said she’d failed at everything and AEW no longer needed her.

Storm closed the interview by saying “Chin down. Tits in. Don’t bother watching for the shoe.”

Despite her comments, rather than retirement, most believe Storm will be back in action soon and is simply moving on from her “Timeless” persona. However, that didn’t stop questions about her status when Khan spoke to the media 24 hours later.

Tony Khan Addresses Tony Storm Rumours

During a media call ahead of AEW Full Gear, Khan was asked about the former Women’s World Champion, and he suggested reports of her demise have been “greatly exaggerated.”

“Reports of her demise have been greatly exaggerated. I still expect Toni Storm will have a great wrestling career, but she’s really struggling, clearly, with what’s happened. She lost her title, she lost her protégé. I think she feels like she lost everything and now she’s lost. I hope Toni Storm can find herself and come back to AEW because ‘Timeless’ Toni Storm is a great part of AEW.”

Mariah May and Mina Shirakawa are set to hold a Champagne Championship Celebration at Full Gear on November 23rd. There’s been a great deal of speculation that this could be the moment Storm — or a new version of her character at least, will return to the fold.
