Tony Khan Suggests ROH Could Be Branded Differently

There could be changes coming for the ROH brand, according to some interesting comments made by owner Tony Khan.

It was in March of 2022 when All Elite Wrestling Owner and President Tony Khan announced that he had purchased the Ring of Honor promotion. ROH started in 2002, so at that point, it was in his 20th year.

In the two plus years since owning ROH, Tony Khan has run a handful of PPVs every year while also producing the ROH weekly show on the ROH website for Honor Club members. Most weeks, ROH is taped before or after AEW Collision tapings, but sometimes ROH has its own tapings as well.

Following the ROH Death Before Dishonor PPV in Arlington, TX, there was a media scrum where Khan spoke about the show and also answered questions from the assembled media. While talking about AEW and ROH possibly working together more, Khan believes that it should happen.

“It’s really interesting what the promotion has grown into, but I’m really proud of it. I think ROH holds an important place. I recognize that AEW is at the very top of pro wrestling. The ROH brand could frankly benefit from even more association. I don’t think it’s out of the question to say or sacrilegious to say.”

“I think it would only help grow the ROH brand if I were to license it or sublicense it if it were AEW ROH. I don’t think that’s a crazy thing or sacrilegious or bad. I think it would be good for everybody. People would see more of the connectivity that exists between promotions and what we’re going for.”

Does Tony Khan Think That ROH Programming Could Appear On WBD Television?

There are ongoing conversations between All Elite Wrestling and Warner Bros. Discovery (the home of TNT and TBS television channels). Tony Khan recently said they are having “great conversations” together about a possible new deal between the companies. Khan was asked about whether the ROH brand could be featured on WBD properties in the future.

“It’s not crazy at all to think Ring of Honor could be televised in the Warner Brothers Discovery family. Would Ring of Honor frankly have a lot more value as AEW Ring of Honor? Yeah, probably. I think I’ve come to that realization as far as the presentation.”

“That might mean a more cohesive absorption of the promotion into the fabric of what we’re already doing, but not in a way that would affect things.”

Next up for Tony Khan in terms of AEW/ROH PPV shows is the massive AEW All In event on August 25th at Wembley Stadium in London, England. It’s the second year that AEW is doing that show and it will be their biggest crowd of the year with over 40,000+ fans expected to attend.
