Tony Khan “Very Fired Up” By Recent Chris Jericho Match

Chris Jericho

One wrestler took on Chris Jericho and did such a great job that he left Tony Khan elated.

Chris Jericho has been a central figure on AEW programming since the company’s inception. He’s one of the few wrestlers/acts to appear almost every week and has made a point to remind people of his alleged influence on the demographics, as he has called himself, among other things, ‘the Demo God’.

But one of his more recent matches took the spotlight away from himself and onto his opponent.

On the 2022 Winter is Coming episode of Dynamite, Chris Jericho took on and lost to Action Andretti in a stunning upset. Andretti, along with Ricky Starks, has been embroiled in a feud with Jericho and his Appreciation Society stablemates ever since.

But that match ended up being a major turning point for Andretti. What was billed as a ‘tune-up’ match for Jericho for his ROH World Title loss ended up being the biggest win of Andretti’s career. And according to Andretti himself, his match with Chris Jericho earned him one very important fan backstage.

Speaking on The Sessions with Rene Paquette, Andretti noted that he got a ton of applause from different groups backstage at Dynamite but got an especially big reaction from Tony Khan.

“Tony was very happy with the match, very fired up, which I love to see. ‘LET’S F***ING GO!’ That fires me up so much, I love it. Chris was very happy with how it came out. I was very happy that those guys believed in my and very grateful that they gave me an opportunity and they trusted me to go out and perform to the level that they thought I was going to.

It was very cool. Chris was very happy, and to make those guys happy, it makes me know that I’m doing something right and it’s a good feeling.”
