Tony Khan Confirms Reason For Adam Copeland’s AEW Absence
Tony Khan has revealed why Adam Copeland has really gone missing in AEW.
Adam Copeland had a score to settle when he made his big return to AEW at All In Texas. The last time fans had seen him was when he was betrayed by FTR in a shocking attack that put him on the shelf for months.
Copeland sought out an old friend to help him battle FTR as he reunited with Christian Cage. The two men defeated Cage’s former underlings in The Patriarchy at Forbidden Door, before setting up a huge bout with FTR at All Out in Copeland and Cage’s hometown of Toronto.
Copeland and Christian Cage won that match, but FTR had the last laugh when they took out Copeland’s wife, WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix, with a spike piledriver. In a backstage segment after that, Copeland was seen explaining to Cage that he needed to take time away and protect his family.
Adam Copeland Out Of AEW Due To Filming
Speaking with Z100 New York, AEW boss Tony Khan confirmed that Copeland’s absence is really down to his filming commitments:
Adam Copeland’s a huge part of AEW. Adam’s out filming right now. He’s a huge star in AEW. We love having Adam Copeland, The Rated-R Superstar in AEW and I’m excited for him to be back in AEW, hopefully soon after this project is done, and he’s taking care of business and then Adam will come back and we’ll get Adam Copeland taking care of business in the ring in AEW.
Copeland is currently filming the latest season of Percy Jackson & the Olympians for Disney+.
