Tony Khan Has Questions About WWE ID Program
Tony Khan has shared his doubts about the recently introduced WWE ID program.
The company launched it’s new global talent identification initiative on 29th October, expanding on it’s existing NIL program by focusing on potential future Superstars already in independent wrestling promotions around the world.
Speaking during the AEW Full Gear Post Show Media Scrum, AEW President Tony Khan revealed he had doubts about the new program, however, sharing his belief that the independent scene could be negatively impacted:
“It’s interesting. I don’t really know how it’s going to work.
I understand there is some kind of first right or refusal aspect of it. We haven’t come up where it’s been a conflict yet. I do think it’s going to affect the independent scene in some ways.
We’ve had a really great experience here over the years bringing in young wrestlers. Through the pandemic, the best place for independent wrestlers to get work was at AEW and on AEW Dark and Elevation.”
Tony Khan Shares Update On Future Of AEW Rampage
With AEW shows Dynamite and Collision set to move to to Warner Bros. Discovery after a mult-year deal was agreed, the future of the company’s Friday night show, Rampage, has been in question.
Tony Khan recently commented on speculation that Rampage was set to be axed, insisting it was a show that he loved before revealing that it was possible a deal with a different network could be agreed to continue the popular programming.
