Tony Khan Makes Mass Releases On AEW Roster

Tony Khan AEW

Tony Khan has avoided mass releases in AEW as seen elsewhere during its five-year history but that has now all changed.

In September 2023, WWE made its last round of roster cuts which saw stars such as Matt Riddle, Dolph Ziggler, Mustafa Ali, and others let go from the company. That was the first time a mass release had taken place since Vince McMahon briefly retired in July 2022 and it remains to be seen if they will continue to be a feature of the company under TKO’s ownership.

AEW had taken a different approach to releasing talent with Tony Khan so far only letting people go for misconduct events or in other cases, those that had asked to be let go with the prime example in that case being William Regal.

Now Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful has reported that has all changed with several members of the AEW roster said to have been cut by Tony Khan.

Dasha, Jose The Assistant, Jora Johl, Anthony Henry, The Boys, Gravity, Stu Grayson, Parker Boudreaux, and Slim J have all been let go according to the report.

Most of those let go had either not been used on TV in quite some time or had been a part of the Ring of Honor roster. Jose The Assistant was originally aligned on TV with Andrade El Idolo during his stint in AEW and had also been seen with La Faccion Ingorbernable.

Dasha might be the most surprising name on the list as she had been a ring announcer for the company, featuring on TV regularly.

It is not known if more cuts are expected to the AEW or Ring of Honor rosters at this time.
