Tony Khan Has Not Signed Ex-WWE Star

Tony Khan AEW All In

After some suggestions that Tony Khan had snapped up a former WWE star to join AEW, that doesn’t appear to be the case after all.

Elias was one of twenty WWE stars released in September 2023 as his nine-year stint in the company came to an end. Best known for his exploits on the guitar rather than his in-ring talents, Elias shared many memorable moments in the company including at WrestleMania 34 with John Cena.

Since his release, he now goes by the name Elijah and has competed for several independent promotions, sharing the ring with the likes of Speedball Mike Bailey, Matt Riddle, and TNA World Champion Joe Hendry.

Tony Khan Hasn’t Signed Elias

Elijah recently took to social media to share a new video which sees him join up with AEW/Ring of Honor tag team The Righteous as he asked “What wants to RUN with The Righteous Ones?!”

The Righteous is comprised of Vincent and Dutch, and they last appeared in AEW back in September 2024 although they have been a regular part of the Ring of Honor roster. Both The Righteous and Elijah have been part of the recent Jericho Cruise where another ex-WWE star reunited with his former tag team partner.

After the video aired featuring Elijah and The Righteous, there were some suggestions that the former WWE star had signed with AEW. Fightful Select has now corrected the story and confirmed that he is not signed to Tony Khan’s company. The report also noted that his future could lie elsewhere as TNA is said to have an interest in working with him.
