Elias Confirms WWE Exit

Elias on guitar

Elias has looked back on the highlights of his WWE career in the wake of his release from the company.

After six years in the independent scene, Elias joined WWE in 2014 as part of the NXT roster. The star was initially used as an enhancement talent for his first year on the developmental brand. However, in 2015 he debuted the drifter musician character that finally saw him breaking through with the audience.

On his move to the main roster in 2017, Elias made appearances during matches and backstage where he would be seen playing his guitar. During one performance, he was attacked by Finn Balor, leading to a feud between the pair which ended when Elias defeated the former Universal Champion in a No DQ bout.

Over the following years, the star had high-profile feuds with the likes of John Cena, Braun Strowman, and Seth Rollins, but always came out on the losing end. In 2022, he re-debuted as his own brother, Ezekiel, much to the consternation of Kevin Owens, who refused to accept they were two different people.

The angle was a success with fans and saw other members of Elias’ “family” appearing on TV before Owens retired the Ezekiel character by powerbombing him on the ring apron. This led to the return of Elias in October 2022.

The star was last seen in May 2023 when he unsuccessfully competed in an Intercontinental Championship Number 1 Contender’s Battle Royal. He was released from the company as part of wider cuts on September 21st.
