Tony Khan Discusses Future Of AEW Media Scrums
AEW President Tony Khan has discussed the possibility of the company continuing to do media scrums following what happened with CM Punk at All Out.
All Out in Chicago should have been a night of celebration for CM Punk as he captured the AEW World Title from Jon Moxley in front of his hometown crowd. Instead, things quickly turned sour as Punk let loose at the post-show media scrum, lambasting the likes of The Young Bucks, Colt Cabana, and Hangman Adam Page while a visibly uncomfortable Tony Khan could only watch on.
Many have speculated that Punk’s actions could spell the end of the media scrums going forward but that might not be the case. Speaking on Barstool’s Rasslin’ podcast, ahead of AEW Grand Slam Dynamite, Khan discussed the possibility of having the scrums again going forward:
“Well, I think to be fair we have had a lot of positive things, a lot of positive reactions. It is a great opportunity for the talent to get out and speak. Obviously, there are a lot of positives coming out of them, for example, tonight on Dynamite we have the World Tag Team Champions Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland defending the titles against The Acclaimed.”
“It was actually at our last pay-per-view, the All Out media scrum that we had that conversation. I said to Keith and Swerve that that was one of the best matches that we have ever had. The Acclaimed are the winningest team in all of AEW, and if anyone deserves a rematch it is those guys.”
