Tony Khan Doesn’t Rule Out Wrestling In AEW

Tony Khan AEW

Tony Khan batted away suggestions he could wrestle in AEW… kind of.

Since the launch of AEW in 2019, Tony Khan has mostly stayed away from the on-screen action, only making appearances for big announcements. The AEW boss has repeatedly stated that he doesn’t want to be a regular on television, preferring to leave that to the wrestlers in the ring.

However, authority figures stepping into the ring is far from unheard of, and some have wondered whether Khan could follow suit.

Appearing on Levack and Goz, Khan was asked about potentially wrestling, and while he did appear to mostly rule it out, “not anytime soon” isn’t the emphatic no some were expecting.

“I don’t think anybody really wants to see that. Not anytime soon. That’s not anything I think we’re going to do. I do think AEW has a great roster, the best wrestlers in the world. I would rather try to put the best matches and we have exciting rivalries building in AEW right now.”

Tony Khan Set To Land Kazuchika Okada And Mercedes Mone

It’s been reported that Kazuchika Okada has agreed to join AEW. Although The Rainmaker held talks with WWE, he reportedly agreed to join AEW in the last couple of weeks. However, there is no word on when he’ll make his full AEW debut.

Meanwhile, Mercedes Mone is expected to make her long-awaited AEW debut at the TD Garden in Boston on March 13th. The special episode of Dynamite is titled “Big Business,” with many comparing the situation to CM Punk’s AEW debut in August 2021.

Mone has reportedly been signed to AEW for several weeks.
