Tony Khan Confirms Major AEW Star Won’t Return Anytime Soon
Tony Khan has provided an update about an injured AEW star.
Jay White has been one of the strongest characters for the Florida promotion, having featured in the World Title picture throughout 2024 and in early 2025.
During the April 5 episode of AEW Dynamite, White confirmed that he had sustained a hand injury and would be missing from action.
Earlier, he was scheduled to feature in the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament, but was removed from the line-up.
In an appearance on the My Mom’s Basement with Robbie Fox podcast, AEW President Tony Khan confirmed that the New Zealand wrestler was going to be out for a long time.
Jay White is one of the best wrestlers in the world and got injured along the way. He is out, and unfortunately, is going to be out for a long time. [H/T Fightful]
It is a possibility that the 32-year-old could miss the remainder of 2025.
Tony Khan Recalls His Biggest AEW Regret
Tony Khan is responsible for many decisions in AEW, including character development and storyline creation.
On the same podcast, he was asked about any regrets he might have had while being at the helm of the promotion, when he mentioned the late Jay Briscoe.
I fought really hard to get Jay Briscoe on the show. There were multiple times where Mark and Jay Briscoe came to Dynamite and didn’t do anything. And they just came and I brought them, and I was trying to — I kept pulling moves.
It was a different time. It was a different management, it wasn’t Mr. [David] Zaslav. I could have now literally gone to him. I fought really, really hard to get Jay Briscoe on the show, but I really wish I’d been able to have Jay Briscoe on Dynamite just one time. And he came to the show many times. That’s my biggest regret by far.
