Tony Khan Believes AEW Has Positive Momentum Despite Low Attendance
Tony Khan has addressed the negative comments regarding AEW.
Despite the in-ring action remaining solid and praised highly each week, other metrics have been down compared to the promotion’s peak in late 2021 and early 2022. Ratings have failed to get over 1 million for a number of months and recent US attendances have been lower.
In regards to the promotion as a whole, Dave Meltzer previously described its current state as “cold.” Khan was asked about this perception while appearing on The Dan Le Batard show. Khan described the success of All In and the buzz around recent programming:
“We’ve really begun to change it. The perception is very strong for AEW worldwide. 44 days ago, we set the all-time record for ticket sales for any wrestling show ever in the history of the planet. We’re having a very good year, our pay-per-view numbers are through the roof, and we’re going to have a great show tonight on TBS. The fans are behind what we’re doing, people are mobilized behind this lineup, I’ve seen more positive momentum and positive feedback about AEW in the last 24 hours than I have in several weeks and that’s saying a lot because we’ve had a lot of huge shows in the last several weeks,”
Tony Khan Takes Aim At WWE Higher-Ups
With Dynamite being moved to Tuesday night on October 10th wrestling fans took to social media en masse to give their thoughts on the upcoming head-to-head battle. Khan joined in on the arguing by firing back at fans who claimed they would not be watching Dynamite that week. When another fan compared his behaviour to Vince McMahon, Khan sent back a response that no one would have expected.
H/t to Fightful.
