Tony Khan Addresses Plans For Missing AEW Stars

Tony Khan

AEW President Tony Khan has discussed the status of two currently missing AEW stars and says he hopes to use them again in the future.

The status of both former TNT Champion Miro and Malakai Black in AEW has been the focus of much speculation in recent months. Black last wrestled for the company at All Out and had to issue a strongly-worded statement amid rumours that he had asked for his release from the company. The Dutch star and his House of Black teammates have been featured in vignettes recently, suggesting the group’s return is near.

Miro also last competed at All Out in the same match as Black but has not been seen on AEW television since. The Bulgarian star has only competed in four matches for the company in 2022 with three of those bouts coming in June.

Speaking at the post-Full Gear media scrum, Tony Khan was asked about the status of both Miro and Black and indicated they were still part of his plans:

“Well, I think when we launched AEW, the one thing I said was I would build a big roster and we kinda would have it be where I wasn’t really committing to everybody necessarily working every single week or even possibly working people in and out of the cards and I think that’s still something I’m committed to.”

“So, there’s people who aren’t on every event but I still would like to get involved and you know, you’ve seen people take some sabbaticals, absences, breaks from AEW for various reasons, come back and get very involved and I think that’s still, for both of those guys, potentially something that you can see for different reasons.”

“I think they’re both apples and oranges in some ways but I also think both of them are great and I would like to get both of them involved in the future.”
