TKO May Sell WWE — But Not To Vince McMahon

Vince McMahon on the phone

Vince McMahon has recently been rumored to be interested in reacquiring WWE. While a wrestling veteran predicted that TKO might eventually sell the company, they believe it would not be to the former WWE Chairman.

McMahon initially retired from the Stamford-based company in 2022 but returned the following year to facilitate its sale to Endeavor.

Although he was appointed Executive Chairman of TKO, the 79-year-old stepped down last year amid being sued for alleged sex trafficking and sexual assault by former employee Janel Grant.

Over the past few days, reports suggested that McMahon was interested in buying back his former promotion from TKO. However, sources inside the company reportedly stated that the company was not for sale.

Nevertheless, former WWE head writer Vince Russo believes Vince McMahon has a plan to regain his position in WWE through his relationship with the Saudi government.

Speaking on the Russo’s Brand podcast, the wrestling veteran speculated that the former chairman may have struck a deal with his longtime friend Ari Emanuel, TKO CEO and Executive Chairman, to reacquire the company a few years after selling it, using financial backing from the Saudis.

Russo further pointed out that, in this scenario, the Saudis would own WWE, not Vince McMahon. He added that the Saudis would likely welcome the opportunity to buy the Stamford-based company:

Bro, Vince ain’t gonna use his own money. Bro, who’s Vince got in his back pocket, bro? How about the Saudis, bro. How about the Saudis that have more money than Ari Emanuel and TKO and Mark Shapiro and anybody else can even imagine.

The Saudis have billions and billions and billions of dollars. Vince McMahon will have no problem coming up with the money to buy back the WWE and let me make this perfectly clear, the Saudi’s ain’t gonna give Vince the money and then Vince pays them back. No, it’s not gonna work that way.

The Saudis want to buy the WWE. They would love to own the WWE and have that over there. They have been looking for a big entity like this to stick their flag in for decades.

Vince McMahon would be a big part of a Saudi-owned WWE, according to Vince Russo

Vince Russo continued to lay the scenario that he believes could possibly unfold in the upcoming months. He predicted that Vince McMahon would eventually regain his position as the top guy in WWE.

However, the former head writer pointed out that although the former chairman would be running things, the company would be entirely owned by the Saudis:

The great Bin Hamin has been talking about this on my show for the last freaking 10 years. They would own WWE. Vince would be a big part of it. Vince would be their top guy. Vince would be running things. Vince would have his stake in the company. But make no mistake about it, the Saudis would own WWE.

Russo also speculated that Vince’s potential return would result in the departure of his son-in-law, Triple H.
