Three Big Brand Names Want To Exit AEW
According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer, at least three stars with sizable brand names are trying to get out of their current contracts with AEW.
For the past few months, there have been multiple reports of acts not being happy in the company, with meetings going on between the roster taking place backstage while tapings are also being recorded.
Meltzer, while speaking on WrestlingObserver Radio, said that numerous talents are attempting to get out of their contracts and leave All Elite Wrestling.
“There’s a few people, not that many. There’s three that want to leave and there are different stories and Andrade is one of them.”
Recently, Andrade El Idolo hinted about leaving the promotion, and shortly after, would end up being sent home after getting in a backstage brawl with Sammy Guevara during Wednesday’s taping of AEW Dynamite.
On Thursday, TJR Wrestling reported on the chaos that is surrounding Andrade El Idolo, with Meltzer stating on Wrestler Observer Radio that Andrade is “trying to get fired” from AEW.
“Andrade is trying to get fired, we all know that. So far, when guys want to leave, some will go to great extremes to do that. It has happened in WWE, I have talked to people in WWE who have tried to get fired with some of the craziest things in the world. I have told them, ‘Look, it’s not going to work.’ There were some crazy stories of people trying to do some crazy things to get fired.
Getting in a fight was never one of them, but there’s much crazier things than that from people who wanted to leave, get out and they were not going to be allowed to do that, because the company was not going to release them.
So now there is a situation on the other front, and there’s not that many, it’s like three, that want to leave. There’s different stories and whatever, Andrade is one of them, and you know, he has basically said it publicly in that interview.”
On Friday’s AEW Rampage, Andrade El Idolo was set to take on Preston Vance in a career vs. mask match, however, All Elite Wrestling has canceled the bout after the latest events.
