The Undertaker “Stank The Joint Up” With WWE Hall Of Famer
The Undertaker has less than fond memories of his 2019 bout with Goldberg.
The two WWE Hall Of Famers met for their only ever matchup in a hotly anticipated main event at WWE Super ShowDown on 7th June 2019. Unfortunately for the two legendary Superstars, the contest is remembered for all the wrong reasons.
It was a meeting of two iconic figures that failed to live up to expectations on a hot night in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, with a concussion suffered early in the contest by Goldberg just the first issue in an error-strewn nine minute outing.
Speaking on a recent edition of his podcast ‘Six Feet Under with Mark Calaway‘, ‘The Deadman’ reflected on the disappointing night, noting that the difficult conditions were a factor in the match not meeting expectations:
“He’s wound a little tight sometimes. Good dude, though. He was kind of thrust into something you can’t blame him for. They created him and it was a huge deal.
That Saudi thing was a little ugly. My mindset going into the whole thing was like, at this point in my career, how often do you get to work with somebody that you’ve never (worked with)? I’ve worked with everybody for the last 30-plus years, but I never worked with Bill.
Singles match, that’s the only one, and I stunk the joint up. It was 98 degrees, nine at night, outside. You could chew the air it was so thick. It was just one of those things. There’s not any humidity. Just heat. It was bad. At that time of night, too, whew.”
One bout that The Undertaker remembers in more positive terms is his victory over Damien Demento in the main event of the first ever episode of Raw.
The inaugural edition of WWEs flagship show also saw routing victories for WWE Hall Of Fame members Shawn Michaels, Yokozuna and The Steiner Brothers.
