The Undertaker Breaks Down Why He Has So Much Respect For CM Punk

CM Punk vs The Undertaker - WrestleMania 29

The Undertaker will always respect CM Punk.

After quitting WWE in 2014, adamant that he would never wrestle again, CM Punk embarked on a new career with UFC.

The star made his debut for the promotion at UFC 203 on September 10th, 2016, but was quickly defeated by Mickey Gall via submission in the first round.

Following the loss, Punk fought again in 2018, taking on Mike Jackson but was defeated via unanimous decision. The result was overturned and the fight was declared a no-contest after Jackson tested positive for marijuana.

In conversation with Demetrious Johnson on the MightyCast, The Undertaker said he’ll always respect Punk for trying his hand at MMA.

“One thing with Punk that I do respect is the fact that he tried it. He had a huge name in wrestling before he tried mixed martial arts. He had a lot to lose because [wrestling] was his money maker and then you go over [to MMA] and get your ass handed to you.

I had a lot of respect for him and the fact that he gave it a shot. It was something he wanted to do. He did it. It didn’t work out and he’s back where he should be and everything is right in the world,”

The Undertaker Denies He Has Beef With CM Punk

Back in March, The Undertaker denied rumours there was ever heat between himself and CM Punk, claiming the star was “great to work with.”

‘Taker explained that despite repeated speculation online, he never had any problems with Punk and certainly doesn’t dislike him, adding he was easy to do business with. The Deadman famously beat Punk at WrestleMania 29, in what many fans feel was the legend’s last great match.

CM Punk will be back in action for the first time since January when he takes on Drew McIntyre at SummerSlam.
