The Undertaker On CM Punk – “Supposedly I Squashed His Push”

CM Punk The Undertaker

CM Punk is no stranger to controversy after walking out of WWE and becoming embroiled in a backstage fight in AEW but his old on-screen rival The Undertaker is one man that doesn’t have any issues with Punk.

CM Punk and The Undertaker’s most high-profile feud came at WrestleMania 29 where Punk became the last man to fall victim to The Deadman’s Streak before it was broken one year later by Brock Lesnar.

The feud took an uncomfortable twist following the death of The Undertaker’s former manager Paul Bearer and this was referenced by Punk and his second Paul Heyman throughout the feud to make them even more dislikable.

Speaking to Alex McCarthy of the Daily Mail, The Undertaker addressed rumours that he ever held any ill feelings towards Punk and even went so far as to stop his progression in WWE – a myth that the WWE Hall of Famer is keen to dispel:

“He was great to work with. I’m very proud of that match and we sat down and thought about ideas and everything. I had no beef with Punk, he was always business with me, hopefully I was with him. I’ve been told that I have some beef against him, social media… they tell me because I don’t read comments or follow it, but I have a lot of people that tell me.

“Supposedly I squashed his push and all of this but anybody who knows me – even if I didn’t like somebody, and I don’t dislike Punk, that’s another rumor that I have disdain for him, I don’t, he was good with me and that’s all that matters – business is business, whatever’s best for business.

“That’s one thing I did learn from Vince [McMahon]. Whatever is best for business is what you do, so I can’t worry about what people who have no clue about our business think. Everybody thinks they’re an expert but they really have no clue. It’s ridiculous online. Business has always been business and he was always business with me.”

The Undertaker also recently discussed the different role he’s been offered by WWE and why he’s not currently ready to take it.
